Statement regarding Breast Cancer Canada story
It has come to our attention that a media story this week regarding financial irregularities at a charity called Breast Cancer Canada has caused some confusion for our supporters and the Saskatchewan public. The full story can be read here: https://ijb.utoronto.ca/news/this-canadian-cancer-charity-tells-the-public-it-spends-most-of-its-donations-on-charitable-works-financial-records-tell-a-different-story/
We wanted to let our donors, supporters, and members of the Saskatchewan public know that the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan is in no way affiliated with Breast Cancer Canada (BCC). BCC is a national charity that is completely separate from the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, and we have no relationship with this organization.
The Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan was established in 2019 and we are the charitable fundraising partner for the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency. We are dedicated to enhancing cancer care in Saskatchewan and all funds raised here, stay here to enhance the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.
Through the generosity of our donors, we support the Saskatoon Cancer Centre and the Allan Blair Cancer Centre in Regina, the Saskatoon and Regina Cancer Patient Lodges, screening programs, and cancer research performed in the province. More information about the incredible impact that our donor have on cancer care in Saskatchewan can be seen in our annual Donor Report.
Integrity is one of our core values and we are honest, transparent, and ethical in the pursuit of our mission. As such, our audited financial statements are readily available on our website. Our most recent audited statements for 2024 can be viewed here.
We value the trust and confidence that Saskatchewan donors have placed in us, and we are grateful and humbled by your on-going support.
