HealthHubs provide connectivity for a better patient experience.
The time spent in the Cancer Centre by patients receiving their chemotherapy treatments can be long and tedious. Making the experience more comfortable for patients and their families – and more efficient for clinicians who provide their care – requires innovative solutions.
Fortunately, a new device called a “HealthHub” is now available to patients receiving treatment at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre (ABCC) in Regina. HealthHub is an innovative, touch-screen device (similar to a large iPad) that has been added to 29 treatment chairs at ABCC in Regina.
Benefits to Patients:
The touch-screen terminals provide equitable access for every patient, free from any financial barriers, to:
- TV programming, internet, radio, and video calling
- access to social media and streaming services
- educational resources regarding treatment
- Saskatchewan Cancer Agency information
All of this is available through a modern, 15-inch screen attached to an easy mobile swing arm.
Benefits to Clinicians:
- Increased patient safety by drugs administered through a computerized order entry system, reducing the chance of human error
- Quick access to individual patient treatment records and information at the chair-side, allowing the care team to make instant adjustments when necessary
- Patients that are more engaged, connected, and relaxed during their treatment, ultimately reducing costs to the health care system
Thanks to our generous donors, the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan will provide complimentary earbuds for each patient using the HealthHub system.
Your donation will support the purchase and installation of 29 HealthHubs at ABCC, which each cost $8,750. Every dollar counts, and your gift makes a difference.
