Jennifer’s Story
Jennifer has been running on and off for most of her life and had always wanted to check ‘Complete a Half Marathon’ off her bucket list. When she found out that the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan was a charity partner for the GMS Queen City Marathon and that she could support the patients she works with, she decided the time was now!
“The Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan really does make a difference. I see it every day at work,” says Jennifer Sanderson, the Site Manager of Systemic Therapy and Pediatrics at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre and an employee of the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency.
“As a nurse manager with the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, I’m very privileged to work alongside the most amazing nurses and clinic assistants who provide safe, compassionate and quality care every day.” Jennifer says, “I should also mention there are several other areas within the Cancer Agency that also provide amazing care, and departments who support us all from behind the scenes. I am so lucky to work with them all!”
“Cancer, unfortunately, affects us all. Pretty much everyone knows and loves someone who has received a diagnosis of cancer. The Foundation has become a vital partner in our quest to provide the best patient care possible! From gift cards for patients who need some extra help, state-of-the-art treatment chairs to large-scale projects and everything in-between.”
In her daily work, Jennifer is involved in the systemic cancer treatments done at the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic, including chemotherapy. She sees patients at all stages of their cancer treatment journey and is witness to the tangible difference that donations to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan make.
“Knowing that you are fundraising for such an important cause is a great motivation to do something difficult, like running a half marathon!”
Thanks to donations made by participants like Jennifer, volunteers and their supporters; we’ve received more than $2,600! Thank you – your support is making a difference!
